The customer service was very friendly and helpful. I had a great time with my guide and all of the staff. I would definitely recommend them for another trip and travel with them again on a different trip. Thank you for the great customer service….

We had a fantastic 3 days hike to Atitlán. The trek starts some 20 km outside of Antigua and varies in its difficulty, can be challenging at some point, but from our perspective it is well manageable even if you're not hiking on a regular basis (like us). It definitely offered us a perspective into Guatemala we would have missed out on otherwise. We loved our accommodations as we were staying on a public ground in the first and on a private ground in the second night. It is a really nice and spacious tent and as a support vehicle is supplied everything is already fixed up once you arrive at the camp sites. There's even the opportunity to have a hot shower after the hike. The food is home cooked and was really nice too. Our guide, Willy, has been nothing but fantastic. A very kind and knowledgeable person and very easy to spend time with. He had a huge impact on this trip and we couldn't be happier to have had him as a guide. There is just one minor downside as we see it: while the 1st and third day were pretty long and largely up and down hill, the second day is very relaxed with approximately just 3 hours of walking. We felt that a bit more even distribution of the distance would make sense. We can highly recommend this trip if your looking to get an insight into bit more rural Guatemala whilst hiking.

Me and my 14 year old daughter loved this trek. It's a great and safe way to see the Guatemala backcountry. Get out of the tourist zones. We pass through fields, forests and villages, enjoying great views. Apart from a small busy road section everything was smooth and enjoyable. Guatemala is a hilly country with steep sections but the trek is doable. We could relax at camp at around 2 o'clock, take a hot shower and eat local food. Our guide Josias was very professional, spoke good french and english. We enjoyed how he adapted to the group. We felt safe travelling with him. He also told great stories while enjoying breaks on the trail and at camp. Taking the shuttle back to Antigua showed us that walking to the lake is the best way to get there. You should do the same.

Bicycle ride to Uaxactun was a nice experience and my personal hidden champion. My guide and leader of the village Don Ervin gave his profound knowledge about the archeological site and the forest concession. How people in this village live a symbiosis of ecology and economy is absolute admirable. The ordered English spoken translator was a flop and not worth the money. Nobody needs such an unengaged person more taking care about himself then about his client. He was also physically not able to take part in the cycling ride. Luckily I had my translation device for the communication.
Uaxactun and Acatenango Overnight Hike (Andreas Zedler)
Hola Andreas, thank you for your follow-up and for highlighting the Uaxactún ride. We’re really glad to hear it was a standout experience for you. Don Ervin will truly appreciate your recognition of his knowledge and the work of the community. Regarding the translator, we’re sorry this part of the experience didn’t meet expectations. This is not the standard we aim for, and we take your comments seriously. We’ll be addressing this directly to ensure better consistency and professionalism moving forward. Thank you again.

We had a fantastic 5-day trip to El Mirador. Our group was very easygoing, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The local crew was highly professional—especially Adrian, an archaeological assistant with extensive knowledge of the site, and Antonio, who expertly navigated the trails and had an impressive eye and ear for spotting wildlife. The food was plentiful and good throughout the trip. The first camp felt quite luxurious, while the second was more basic but still perfectly adequate for a jungle trek. We saw a wide variety of animals, including many birds and monkeys. The ruins, especially El Mirador itself, were absolutely stunning and well worth the effort. In short, we loved it! P.S.: If it rains, the trek can become very muddy and significantly more challenging.

Hola Roya! Congratulations on completing this challenging expedition to El Mirador. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome experience in such detail! We’re really happy to hear you had such a great time. Adrian and Antonio will be glad to hear your kind words—they truly love what they do. Glad you enjoyed the food, camps, wildlife, and of course the incredible ruins!! Hope to have you back for another adventure someday.

I had a truly incredible experience in Guatemala - and I have Pablo and the Etnica team to thank for it! Pablo worked closely with me to design a custom trip for my friend and me, taking into consideration our logistical preferences, interests, time window, and budget. As the primary planner for my friend's and my trip, I was in frequent communication with Pablo, and I was impressed by his expertise, professionalism, warmth, and dedication. It is clear that he is passionate about what he does, and wants his travelers to experience the best of what Guatemala has to offer! During our trip itself, everything was smooth, efficient, and executed perfectly, from airport transfers / transportation, food and cultural recommendations, and comfortable, conveniently-located accommodations. All of our guides were incredibly friendly, treating us like friends rather than "tourists"; in fact, I felt that my interactions with the locals were perhaps the best part of this whole experience. At the end of the trip, I remained in Guatemala solo, while my friend returned to the states. During this time, I continued to take tours and explore Guatemala per Pablo's recommendations, and I felt safe, met incredible people, and gained a huge appreciation for the culture and people. I will recommend Etnica to my friends and family with great enthusiasm, and I can't wait to return! Thank you for everything, Pablo! -Kim from NYC

I traveled as a teacher with students and can say with full sincerity that our tour guide, Pablo, exceeded every expectation I had for the trip! Not only did my students see beautiful tourist attractions and learn about the history of those places, but the best was them having multiple opportunities to meet and spend time getting to know people and their different ways of life all across the country. Having chaperoned educational tours with various companies, I can easily say that this one facilitated the best cultural learning and human connections for myself and my students. Many thanks, Etnica, for the experience and the memories!
